Export Evidence
From 22nd July 2024, it is an offence to export cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and horses from Great Britain for slaughter or fattening.
The Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Act 2024 bans the export of cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and horses for fattening and slaughter from Great Britain. It applies to journeys from, and transit journeys through, Great Britain to destinations outside the UK, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.
Live animal exports for other purposes, for example, breeding and competitions, are still permitted provided that animals are transported in line with legal requirements which protect their welfare. The ban does not apply to exports of other live animals, such as poultry, and it does not apply in Northern Ireland. The legislation does not affect livestock and horse movements within the UK.

Please complete the form below for beef, dairy, buffalo and bison only. For other livestock, please click on the appropriate logo above.
The accreditation process takes up to four working days and costs £75. This is not affected by the number of animals being moved or the export destination country. The fee is non-refundable. Once the accreditation process is complete, you will be provided with a unique reference code to add to Section 1 of your Journey log application. APHA will not approve a Journey Log without this.
“Journey organiser” means the person who has overall responsibility for planning a journey and preparing the journey log in respect of the journey and signing Section 1 of the journey log.
