NBA Beef Expo returns to Hexham

The National Beef Association (NBA) is returning to its Northumberland roots for NBA
Beef Expo 2014.
Hexham Mart is delighted to be hosting for the first time since 2010, NBA Beef Expo
the beef industry’s annual showcase event.
NBA Beef Expo 2014 is being held on Thursday May 22nd at Hexham Auction Mart.
On Wednesday 21st May there will be pre-event farm tours followed by the Annual
Beef Expo Industry Dinner.
The Farm Tours will take in three leading Northumberland livestock farms renowned
for their suckler cows and continental cross bred store cattle. All farms feature highly
in the main seasonal sales at Hexham Auction Mart.
Willie Woodman will host visits to his two farms, Great Chesters Farm, an upland
farm on the Roman Wall, and Bradford, his lowland farm, where the calves are
reared, before being sold at Hexham at 19 to 20 months. Willie predominantly uses
Charolais but also Limousin Sires and his cattle regularly top the sales at Hexham.
The third farm is a tremendous upland farm at West Woodburn. Steel Farm, farmed
by John and Andrew Hunter. Using the very best of Limousin bulls the Hunter’s sell
their calves at 12 to 15 months of age and figure highly at Hexham’s seasonal
specialist sales. The same evening will see the industry dinner, held in the Tynedale Function Suite.
NBA Beef Expo is the annual showcase and forum for producers to learn all about
the latest products and technical developments in the Beef industry. It is an event
where exhibitors showcase the finest of livestock and where visitors can access the
latest information and advice on production techniques.
