Nine days into the outbreak we still only have 2 IP’s, 47 cases have been cleared and 4 are under investigation.  On average there is 6-7 potential cases reported around GB on a daily basis, which demonstrates the vigilance being practiced by farmers and vet staff.  

The NBA has lobbied hard for protocols and timelines to be developed for priority welfare movements, collection centres and a return to normality based on risk assessment as soon as possible.

All Sunday and Monday have been dedicated to drawing up a complete exit strategy with Defra and key industry stakeholders that includes all movements and the resumption of the export market.    It is hoped that this exit strategy will apply across GB and will be adopted by Wales and Scotland.  

It is expected Debbie Reynolds (CVO) will announce on Tuesday (August 14) the details of this exit strategy.
